Sometime in 2011 I met Simone Bertuzzi in the dry heat of Casablanca. Our mutual friend Jace said he was a sorcerer conjuring dwindling Italian state arts funds to run his esoteric and brilliant conceptual art practice. After years of keeping up on him with increasing interest on the internet, Simone invited me to produce and shoot stills for the month long Jamaican segment of his first feature length documentary, Negus. It was fucking amazing.

Negus explores a Holy Trinity of Italian Fascism, Ethiopian History and Rastafarian Mythology. Simone conceived of the film alongside his longtime collaborator Simone Trabucchi.
